MARGARET RIVER GOLF CLUB

Golfers and those just out for a walk enjoy the abundant flora and fauna, including kangaroos, geese, rabbits and many varieties of birds. Apart from planted species there are also magnificent examples of local trees including karri, jarrah, marri and peppermints. The course winds it way up the slopes of the Leeuwin-Naturaliste ridge with the last five holes in particular affording spectacular views of the rolling countryside and vineyards.

Although not heavily bunkered the course features numerous water hazards. The back nine in particular requires careful shot consideration owing to the undulating fairways and large trees. Over the past decade the course has risen in standing and is now one of Australia’s most highly regarded country courses. (iseekgolf.com)

Located in the Margaret River Wine Region, it is 5 minutes from the town centre on the Leeuwin-Naturaliste Coastal Ridge. The 6092 metre par 72 course is one of Western Australia’s most highly ranked country courses, with generous fairways and well conceived challenges. Created by a group of golfing enthusiasts in the early 1950s in a bushland cleared setting near the mouth of the Margaret River, it winds its way up the slopes of the coastal ridge with the last 5 holes offering stunning views of the rolling countryside and vineyards. Golfers and ordinary visitors are charmed alike by the flora and the fauna of the region. Major attractions include various birds including geese and the kangaroos. (Golfer Tips)
