HENRI LIEBENBERG
TREASURER
Henri
is a Below Knee Amputee and his passion for golf has not diminished since his
amputation in December 2009. Born in South Africa, he now resides in Margaret
River WA, with his wife Christine and children, Nicholas and Maylin.
Henri
served as the inaugural President of WAADGA and now serves as Treasurer and
Competition Chair.
He regards himself fortunate as he and his family had time to
adjust to the fact that he was going to be an amputee well before the
operation.
“I
feel for those who have had amputations performed without, or with very
little time to prepare”
Henri
aims to promote golf as means of recreation and rehabilitation for amputees
and other physically disabled persons and to share his love of the game with
all in the spirit of friendship, competition and acceptance.
“For every door that closes in your life, new ones will open,
if you look for them”.
18
Months after his amputation Henri was selected to represent Australia at the
Men's Team Handigolf World Championship in Sweden. He is currently playing of
